April 2010

Whilst I couldn’t be happier with Parlour X’s brand portfolio we have all been craving something new and exciting, so I Managed to pick up two new fabulous labels as well as re-introduce two old favourites.   Our new finds are…

Carven

I am so excited about this label and everyone is falling in love with it!  Established in 1945 in Paris by Mme. Carven  Mallet this label came to epitomise the charm, gaiety and beauty of post-war Paris and they went on to become one of the  primary practitioners of the 1950s golden age of haute couture, most suited to the European aristocrats.  However, it has since been reinvented by former Givenchy designer Guillaume Henry and 2010 sees a ready-to-wear  collection burst on the scene which is really affordable and accessible.  It is best described as French chic classic with a huge big twist!  Think beautiful evening pieces and sophisticated daywear, amazing quality of finish with again surprisingly  agreeable price points – it is very very French!

Alice by Temperley

Inspired by British fashion and spirit Alice by Temperley mixes feminine with a touch of rock and roll, it is super cool and feminine but with a cutting edge style.  And I have to say, yet again, very well priced!

Marchesa

This label has fast become a red carpet favourite with British born designers Georgina Chapman and  Keren Craig applying their eclectic and modern perspective to beautiful eveningwear creating elegant designs inspired by vintage and asian influences.

Revisiting brands – after a few seasons absence we’ve had a great demand from our clients wanting to see more of:

Antik Batik

This is the best boho French brand, gorgeous dresses and blouses in prints and great textures.

Anne Valerie Hash

Ex-Chanel designer her collections always have beautiful attention to detail while  at the same time being relaxed and easy-to-wear.  We will see her signature jump suits next season, tees and long T-shirt dresses. It is refreshing to see designers recognising how real women want to dress and while Australia has been offering  clothes a reasonable price points for a while, Europe finally seems to be catching up on this too – which means more shopping for us!
