COMME DES GARCONS

Fashion designer Rei Kawakubo is the founder of the label Comme des Garcons establishing it as a company in 1973 in Tokyo. Two years later, Kawakubo moved to Paris where she made her debut show amongst much controversy for it’s predominate use of black and distressed fabrics. Following Kawakubo's breakthrough in Paris, Comme des Garcons clothing was often the subject of exhibitions around the world. Comme des Garcons specializes in anti-fashion, austere, sometimes deconstructed garments, sometimes lacking a sleeve or other component.
