Sun Herald "Why every girl in the galaxy seems to want this dress."
Sydney women will get their chance to own the stars’ choice in February, when a shipment of eighteen summer-weight versions arrive at Paddington’s Parlour X boutique.
“We already have five prominent women on the waiting list for the dress, it’s been so popular,” the boutique’s owner Eva Galambos said.
While Parlour X will be taking delivery of the cotton version bearing a different name (dubbed Titanium for its mesh/stretch qualities), the design and its appeal remain the same.
“It’s square across the shoulders, but nips in at the waist rather than the hips, which helps create that hour glass shape,” Ms Galambos said. “It makes your legs look longer and accentuates your curves, especially the bum.”
Elasticated fabric across the stomach, bottom and thighs helps to “slim” the figure, with one fashion editor regaling it as “the hold-in pants of dresses”.
“Roland is the king of curvy. His dresses are molded and fit the body and that’s why he’s been so successful,” says Harper’s Bazaar magazine editor Alison Vaness-McGourty.
“Everyone this season really looked to glamour,” she said. “It’s part of the fashion cycle, but personally I think it’s great we’re starting to celebrate shape rather than concealing it.”
