FOUR SEASONS MAGAZINE Volume 15, Issue 3 Fall 2007 FOR WOMEN
Eva Galambos, owner of Parlour X, an avant-garde boutique carrying a well-edited selection of international labels – many of which are not found anywhere else in the city:
Best Daywear: “layering and T-shirts are strong this fall, as are shorter length skirts. Viktor & Rolf’s romantic, sporty-style jacket with subtle ruffled trim looks perfect, as do acne’s cult stretch-denim jeans and Comme des Garcons’ superstretch tube skirts.”
Outerwear: “Leather jackets are huge again, especially in biker style. We’ll also be seeing a lot of blazers and trench coats. The best examples of these trends: Junya Watanabe for Comme des Garcons’ black or white leatherette biker jackets, the Viktor & Rolf structured trench, and Acne’s cropped leather jacket.’
Evening: “Modern eveningwear is shiny, black, and very bold, and the overall look is very glamerous. The pieces that sum up the season: Hussein Chalayan’s Taffeta showpiece dress with a distinctive rose print, sexy Vivienne Westwood satin wrap dresses, and Corto Moltedo evening bags.”
Shoes and bags: “For bags, patent leather, metallic, and anything shiny is desirable, especially from Mulberry, Alexander McQueen, and YSL. Boots of all heights are essential, but standouts will be high-heeled ankle boots and flat kneelength. For day, ballet shoes will still be strong. My customers are loving the Azzedine Alaia ballet shoe in pink croc with red suede trim.”
Local Style: “Style in Sydney is strongly influenced by the T-shirt right now, such as T-shirt-cut dresses in cotton and knit jersey, worn with leggings and flats by day or bare legs and a killer heel at night.”
Trend-setter: “Camilla Freeman-Topper, the female half of Australian cult design duo camila and marc. She can make even the most casual outfit appear styled and worthy of a photo shoot.”
