Junya Watanabe was born in Japan in 1961. In 1992, 'Junya Watanabe Comme des Garçons' was introduced in Tokyo & in 1993 was shown in Paris with the support of his mentor Rei Kawakubo, founder of Comme des Garçons. Watanabe's technical brilliance was enhanced and developed whilst an apprentice for Rei Kawakubo & is today recognised as the most cutting edge of innovative fashion.
